Ryan's first Fathers Day!

Although it was almost a month ago now, I thought I should record the occasion of the first time Ryan got to celebrate Fathers Day! He had a lovely day with the little blob which even included them both having a long afternoon nap together {both one of their favourite things in the world}. Here is a picture of him with his little twin. What cuties!

My sisters little twins

Hi all,

sorry about the extended absence...I have so much to blog about but so little time to do it in! I start tonight's blog with the sad news of my sister losing her twins. She was almost 24 weeks pregnant but went into early labor. Unfortunately the labor could not be stopped and she gave birth to Clara and Eliza Linn on June 24, 2014. They were small but alive and immediately moved to the NICU to be taken care of. Although everything looked good the first night {and they were very responsive to touch and sound}, it was discovered the next day that they both had suffered stage four brain bleed. Carly and her husband had to make the heart breaking decision to take the girls off their support as it meant they would never lead a normal life again {if any at all}. Luckily my sister asked the team to hold off until I had a chance to meet the girls. They were wonderful! It was hard to believe that there was anything wrong with them at all but we were assured by the medical team that what was happening with them was impossible to see with the naked eye.

I am so glad I got to meet them both and feel their little hands holding tightly onto the tip of my finger. They were such little sweethearts!

It's hard to understand why things happen the way they do. It seemed meant to be, my twin having identical twins! Due just weeks after our new baby girl. Things have a way of revealing themselves over time though. I still wonder how life would have been if we had not lost our first baby, Ada. I wouldn't have my sweet little blob Bennett as his pregnancy overlapped when I should have been pregnant with Ada. Bennett brings so much happiness into everyone's life's and to think that we could have never even known him is mind baffling! I just hope time heals their broken hearts and things start to become more clear.

In the meantime, my Mum decided to surprise Carly and come from England for a week. We thought this was the perfect medicine and it just so happened Carly and her husband were off for the week anyways! My Mum's surprise was a complete success and Carly was SHOCKED to say the least when she came to her front door and discovered Mum there!!!!!!! I LOVE surprises of that magnitude. Since she has arrived, we have had a lovely and fun week. Exactly what the doctor ordered :)

I hope to update you about my Mum's visit next week and I still have a few pictures from Bennett's 8 mth milestone and Ryan's first Fathers day. So speak to you soon! xxx

3 years!

Hello friends!

I just wanted to touch base and let you know I received an email wishing me a happy 3rd birthday. Weird you say? Well it's not referring to my age....its referring to the fact that I have been blogging for three years! How weird is that? I actually have stuck to blogging and its really cool to be able to look back and see what I was doing three years ago.

Just incase you decided to look at my archived older posts and see that they only date back to Feb 2013....don't worry...I am not lying about how long I have been blogging for. I started my blog on an older website and then moved to this new site in 2013. I still have the link though and can see all my old blog posts. Anyways, here is the cute email they sent me!

All Things Lovely turned 3 today!

We hope it was a great year, and we look forward to sharing many more

Here's to another three! xxx

My little seven month old :)

Bennett was seven months yesterday! I took a few pictures for his monthly photo tracker and they turned out so sweet! I also have jotted down his new stats, many of which are the same. I don't mind though, if it were my way....I would keep him my baby forever :)

Weight: 18 lbs

Routine: We now have him sleeping in his own crib most nights. Some nights we are completely selfish though and make him sleep in our bed so we can have extra cuddles :) This is usually only when Ryan works late and hasn't had much of an evening with him.

Eating: Formula 5-6 times a day and solids three times a day. This child LOVES to eat so basically I can give him almost anything and it goes down well.

Sizes: 9 month clothing!

Milestones: He kind of rolls forward now {with alot of persuasion} and that's about it haha. Month 6 was not an month for excelling in the milestone department ;)

The bloopers

As many of you saw, this past week we found out we are having a baby girl in September! The news of course had to be shared by Bennett, so I ended up posting this picture to Facebook and Instagram....

I'm pretty sure it's as adorable as one can get BUT it took a few to get to this one....................

My first Mother's Day with Bennett :)

Sunday was my first Mother's Day. It's funny to think that last year I was pregnant with Bennett and this year he is here and I am pregnant with his bro or sis! Next year I will have two little blomps....except hopefully will not be pregnant. My body needs to rest for a while ;)

My day started with breakfast made by Ryan. Poor Bennett was so excited waiting for it {thinking he was going to get some}. I felt bad buuuut I ate it all anyways. This kid will eat anything I feed him, which is awesome but it also means he wants everything he sees haha.

So excited for the breakfast he didn't get to eat haha.
After breakfast we headed off to collect my pressie........our houses first tree! It's a Double Flowering Plum tree and it's lovely! It's currently covered in pink blooms and will be every year to mark the beginning of spring. Ryan was intending to get me a bird bath but apparently everyone in Calgary had the same idea as they were sold out! So the tree was a good second choice that I got to pick out.

Bennett's first "kiss".

As you can see from the last picture.....I am pretty sure Bennett gave me his first intentional "kiss". Well first grab my face on either side and pull it towards his drooly open mouth. I probably kiss him about 1000 times a day, so you think he would know how to kiss back by now! haha. Either way, it was sooo cute!! Luckily Ryan took a picture!

I also got a cute card from the two of them and then finished my day with my sister at the play Mary Poppins downtown! It was such a cute day. I can't believe how much we love this little blob xxx

Half a year old!

Our baby is six months old {as of Saturday}! How much fun these last six months have been with our sweet, chubby little Bennett :)

Being such a good baby, the transition from two adults to two adults with a baby was easy! It amazes me at how natural it is to have Bennett around. We tend to do alot of what we did before, we just now have a babe in tow to entertain us as we do it. For example, we took him to see the Trailer Park Boys movie yesterday for my brother and brother in laws bday and he watched it!! Haha. Not that I really should be encouraging him to watch that kind of movie but he still doesn't know English yet...so we're good ;)

Anyways, here is his six month update with a few pictures.

Weight: 17.5 lbs

Routine: He sleeps through the night {still in our bedroom in his bassinet}. The dreadful day is approaching where we will have to move him over to his nursery. He is so big now, he looks like a little burrito in his bassinet {even though it is rated for up to 25lbs}. I just hate to think of him alone in a bedroom....even if we only have 5' between our doors haha. That's ok though because soon enough he will have a little baby bud to keep him company in their room.

Eating: Formula 5-6 times a day. Solids have been started! I did it completely backwards, they say to start with savory veggie purees and then move to fruit. That is so the baby accepts the veggies, which makes total sense. I, of course, have started him only on fruit. It was completely unintentional...it's just what I am attracted to when I buy the baby food. Let's hope he still likes the veggies but if he is anything like his Mum...he probably won't ;)

Sizes: 6-9 month clothing!

Milestones: Alot more baby babble and he sitting up by himself for much longer periods of time!

P.S. We find out what baby #2 is tomorrow so I will post the results here on the bloggy xxx

Bennett's first parcel!

Bennett received his first ever parcel from England on Monday! It was even addressed to him which was so cute and return sender was Granny Gill. He is at an age now where he get's quite excited for things, so it was extra sweet to see him trying to unsuccessfully open it.

Inside was two books from his current obsession, The Peppa Pig collection. She is an English Pig with a little brother named George and he absolutely loves the show. As you can see, he also loved his books! Thanks Granny :) xxx

Easter 2014

I thought I would do a quick post on Bennett's first Easter. Easter to him was probably no different then any other day, mainly due to the fact that his little gummy toothless mouth could not enjoy any Easter treats. Either way it was still fun to see him get excited ;)

This year we headed to BC to see Ryan's family in Revelstoke. Bennett was ADORABLE for his five hour car ride. He slept all but 1.5 hours, which I just sat with him for and read him books. He enjoyed meeting everyone again and had a good time.

The only real glitch we encountered was  a "poo explosion" on Saturday. They happen to every baby but mine seems to always pick the day when I have not chosen to bring extra clothing and we tend to be in a small space. The small space that particular day was a cafe for lunch. If Bennett had not made it quite so evident with grunting and turning purple, I am sure no one would have actually believed the foul smell filling the cafe was indeed the little chubby smiling baby in the corner.

So anyways, long story short, it was everywhere. Once discovering this, I had to leave the half dressed blob with Ryan at the cafe and run to the baby shop down the road to get something new for him to wear. I also had to clean him up in a bathroom with no baby changing station...so that was fun. Also, the line up to use the stinky bathroom was even funner to face when exiting ;)

Otherwise, we had a seamless weekend and another great drive home in which Bennett slept the entire time! {So much like his daddy!} xxx

Shower time

Getting into the shower has become a task since Bennett was born. He just doesn't seem to think a shower is worth me leaving him alone for 10 minutes. I don't mind but I really hate when someone knocks at the door at lunch and I am still sans makeup in my dressing gown. I feel like saying "I swear I have had a productive morning!" haha. I used to be able to catch a shower while he was sleeping but he always woke up right in the middle crying. I would run out dripping wet in a panic that something was wrong. Of course it never was and then afterwards the bathroom looked like it had been flooded. So now I have abandoned the nap showers and have just resorted to leaving him to his own devices. The other day I got out the bathroom and saw him sitting on the bed with his toys waiting for me to be finished. It was such a sweet image that I grabbed my camera and snapped a picture. I SUPPOSE this sweet little face is worth struggling to have a shower for ;) xxx

P.S. There are no covers as I was changing over the sheets {domestic diva material} ;)
