Sunday

Today was yet again another snowy Sunday. Have I mentioned how sick I am of snow? Mainly because I can never stay upright {even with grippy boots I fall about 3 times a week} but I am also seriously ready for some Vitamin D.

We had a nice lazy Sunday. I talked to my Mum for English Mothers day and then had an afternoon nap with Bennett. After that we headed to my sissys for dinner. She is right next door, so if she asks us to come over at 6:30...I start to get ready at 6:25. It's pretty awesome.

Since I am hoping this is the last snow fall before spring, I decided to take a picture of Bennett and us in the snow. Yes for the two seconds we spent outside today walking from our house to our next door neighbors {I'm so physically fit...I know}.

They turned out pretty cute though...

We then got to my sisters and her cats were dressed for the occasion. YES PEOPLE Ruby was literally in a dress and Zeplin in his hoodie. I almost died from cuteness. So naturally I ran back to my house to get my most well natured cat {Enzo} to have some play time with them. Not that we are crazy cat people or anything ;)

We started Sunday dinner tradition after Christmas this year and I am loving it. Every week we switch houses and it is so much fun. I love how Bennett and his Bro or Sis will grow up looking forward to Sunday dinners :) Anyways, talking of Bennett, I better go tend to the chubby little thing. Hope you had a good weekend! xxx

5 month update

Hiya everyone! Long time since I was last on here! Well we have been to England and are now back home. It was an amazing trip and I am proud to say my little Bennett didn't cry once the entire flight there or back. Am I a lucky Mummy or what? People actually thanked me when the flight was over for having such a well behaved little boy.

I also announced that we are expecting baby #2! WHAT A SURPRISE! We were not planning to have two babies so close together and when I first found out I was shocked. Now it has sunk in, I am very happy and know how lucky I will be to have two little blobs :) I've had so many people tell me how lovely it is to have two so close together {11 months apart if this baby is full term} and what good friends they will be. I am excited that this pregnancy is going so smooth so far too! I actually sometimes have to remind myself I am even pregnant!

So back to little Bennett! Here is his updated information for 5 months :)

Weight: 16 lbs
Routine: His routine is still good. He is sleeping through the night between about 9pm-7:30am and goes down for 2-3 naps during the day as well {depending on how long each of them are}.
Eating: Still on formula about 5-6 times a day. I have also now started to introduce some rice cereal. I think that he likes it....most of it ends up on what he's wearing though ;)

Sizes: 3-6 month and 6 month clothing!
Milestones: This baby is finally laughing! He also just learned how to roll {one way} and if we position him, he can sit up by himself for maybe a second. The other thing I have noticed is that he is much more verbal now. Of course it's all baby garble but its really sweet to hear his little voice!

Anyways, here are a couple pictures from his five month birthday. I also have so many lovely pictures from England that I will be adding to facebook hopefully sometime today! xxx

3 month update

Bennett is three months old! Well he has been since Sunday {Jan 26th} but I am just getting around to an update now. I did manage to get some pictures of him on that Sunday though so will add them to the post! On a side note...I'm actually supposed to be working but uploading pictures of this little monkey is too distracting!  ;)

Weight: I really don't have any idea! His last weigh in a few weeks ago was 11.2 lbs. So I am guessing maybe 12-13 lbs? I will update after his next doctors visit!
Routine: His routine is AWESOME! This child has been sleeping through the night since 10 weeks. I didn't know if it was just a phase but its not! His typical routine is bath around 8-9 followed by a book. I put him down after that and he sleeps solid until 8 every morning {sometimes a little longer if I am lucky}. I was a little worried that he was supposed to still be woken for feeds but the nurse said as long as he is getting his recommended amount during the day...let him sleep through the night. He usually takes a couple naps during the day too and ALWAYS falls asleep in the car. I know.....I'm lucky haha.
Eating: Still on formula about 5-6 times a day with bigger amounts per feed.
Sizes: Still in his 0-3 months. We have gotten alot of wear out of this age range!
Milestones: His neck strength is still improving and his interaction when reading a book or playing with toys is increasing :) We also FINALLY finished his nursery so I will do a post on that some time!

I am taking Bennett on his first trip to England on February 12th! Unfortunately Ryan had to stay behind and work {such a good Daddy!}. I know being without Bennett will be hard for him but he knows it will be fun for Bennett and I. I am a little nervous of travelling with Bennett for the first time alone {especially for such a long flight}. Luckily though the flight departs around 8:00 pm so I am hoping he will just keep his routine and sleep through alot of it. Either way, I am SO EXCITED to return to the land of Marmite ;)

In other news, I died my hair this week at home for the first time in ages. I thought I was being clever by saving money. The box said blonde BUT I am now a brunette. I have no idea what happened...it was stinging abit while it was setting, so I think it had a weird reaction with the colour that was already on my hair. My immediate instinct was to re dye it but I know my hair will probably fall out if I do that. It is a little over processed ;) Anyways, so I will see what I can do with it before our trip. In the meantime I better show you those pictures of Bennett I promised. Have a good weekend! xxx

Let's talk about Holly...

Today I want to talk about my little sister Holly. She is 15, lives in England, has really long hair and is obviously GORGEOUS.

Here's the thing though, Holly has mastered the act of photo bombing. Seriously, one of every ten pictures you take of her are normal, the rest look something like this.....

I LOVE looking at these pictures. Every time I even bring these up I burst out laughing. I LOVE how she doesn't care to take a weird picture. I LOVE her funny personality. I LOVE her :) She is hilarious! xxx

2 week shots

When Bennett was two weeks old, Ryan's cousin from Gingersnap Photography came around to do some shots. It is so funny to look back and see how small little Bennett was! Here are a few of my favourites :) P.S. My hair was an absolute nightmare that day, whoever says hair is healthy during pregnancy is a liar! I tried really hard too which is sad. I woke up early to blow dry and straighten. I did this all on the LOWEST heat settings possible, so as you can imagine...it took a life time. Then I used very expensive hair oil to smooth it all down. Well about five minutes after finishing....it poofed up as usual. I gave up and stuck it back...and then even that fell out. Sigh. It has since been all chopped off...due to the fact it was fried. So no hair judgement haha ;)

10 week update

Hello my blogging friends, sorry for the extended absence. We have had so much going on that I just can never find the time to blog! So today I thought I would do a 10 week update on our little Bennett {who is not so little anymore} and happenings lately. One of which includes moving into our new house!! It has been so exciting to have something to call our own. The move was so hard though with the baby and also trying to fit 2400 sq feet of stuff into 1500 sq feet. I still have yet to unpack our bedroom and Bennett's nursery. Also, my family arrived from England on Dec 18th and just spent the last 2.5 weeks with us!!!! During the holiday, we attended my sissys wedding in Banff and enjoyed Bennetts first Christmas. They went home yesterday and already I cant wait until I next see them! So here are some pictures as well as a little update. Talk soon! xxx

Weight: 10.5 lbs {this is a complete estimate...he was 8.5 lbs 3 weeks ago so I am basing my guess off that}
Routine: No real routine yet, he typically has a bath every evening and then I try to "read" him a book. I know it sounds stupid to read to a 10 week old but I think it's good to start them early ;)
Eating: Still on formula about 6-8 times a day. We gave up on breastfeeding about week 2. I love the fact that anyone can feed him. This meant that during my family's stay, my Mum was able to have sleep overs with him and give me a good nights sleep!
Sizes: He officially has out grown his preemie clothes and is in either newborn size or 0-3 month!!!! It makes it alot easier when I am shopping. There is such limited selection in preemie sizes.
Milestones: He is smiling all the time now! I also notice that he watches people talk and makes sounds in response. It's so sweet!

New house! These are our twin houses....mine and Ryan's is on the right and Carly's and Nate's is on the left. As you can see there is still stone work needed on the outside but the home builder won't be doing that until the spring. We love them!
Meeting Granny and Grandad for the first time at the airport!
Smiles for Aunty Hannah!

Hanging with Daddy on his 28th birthday!

I had a baby :)

Hello blog world,

it's been a while! Well as you can see from the title....I had a baby!!

On October 26th at 5:18 AM we welcomed our sweet little 5 lb 7 oz Bennett into the world.

He is adorable {isn't he?!?!} and we love him to bits. I have been pretty lucky so far with him. He hardly ever cries and sleeps right through the night with the exception of feedings. So far he seems to be favouring Ryan in the looks department. His eyes look brown {most days} and he has black hair. I am told this can change but I am pretty convinced he will be a mini version of Ryan haha. Anyways, I promise there will be more frequent blog posts. We are just so busy at the moment! Everything we have been looking forward to is finally here! We are off to BC for a funeral today {which is sad but it will be nice to introduce Bennett to Ryan's family} and then on Friday we take possession of our new house! Four weeks after that my family are arriving from England then it's my sisters wedding and Christmas! xxx

A weekend baby?

Well I will be 37 weeks this Saturday and my doc is still baffled as to why our little babe hasn't come yet. I suppose I don't mind that he hasn't come yet {as it was the goal to get him full term} but I reeaaally want to meet him! Plus I am shamefully tired of being preggo .

When I went back to my OB's office on Tuesday I had progressed in dilation but only 1/2 a cm. She has now decided that she want's us to come in to the hospital on Friday so she can do a membrane sweep. She said if it works, most women will go into labour after that within 48 hrs. So we might meet him this weekend or he could decide to be stubborn. Hopefully not the latter!

I will spend today tidying up and getting a few things done. Hopefully my next update will be of a sweet little babe. Fingers crossed! xxx

Getting ready...

Last night we FINALLY set up the baby's bassinet! It's now beside my bed waiting for a cute little squish face to sleep in it. The baby is full term 37 weeks in 5 days, so I am not feeling as guilty about wanting him to come now. It's baffling to me that I will have a full term babe! After all the obstacles I faced with both pregnancies, a pink chubby baby seemed like something we would never get to experience. Now he should be able to come home with me when I leave the hospital! How cute! I have another docs appt tomorrow and am hoping to see some progress! I'll update if it's anything interesting.

I also ordered him some Peter Rabbit name blocks off Etsy BUT I cannot post a picture on here of the ACTUAL blocks or I will give away his name. I think if you find out the gender of your baby before it's born, it's better to keep the name secret until the end. Then it's still a little surprise ;) Here is the shops picture on the listing for them....just so you can see how sweet they are!

Cute hey?! Just to clarify...his name is NOT Conner haha.
Well other then that we are still just getting ready for the house. I got all our official mortgage paper work together this morning and it felt very grown up! I am still slightly worried that something is going to happen as so far its all been pretty straight forward. We also went to see the house this weekend and its basically done! All the flooring went in which turned out quite nice for "standard/non upgrade stuff". Also, all the lights we chose were installed including the baby's little biplane light. It's so cute! So now its just appliances, sinks/toilets, some baseboard and a good clean!

I will try to keep posted over the next few weeks...they are exciting! Have a good one :) xxx

35 Weeks 4 days

Hiya! I thought I would do a little update to let everyone know how bump is doing. Well first of all, he is a still a bump. No sign of baby yet! They took out my cerclage at the hospital last Friday and I was told to expect a baby by Monday at the latest. Actually my doc said I would sneeze and he would come out {I WISH!! haha}. I was really excited as he is a good size now and if he is born soon it will clear Halloween Oct 31st, our birthday Nov 3rd and the house move Nov 14th. Of course, as it it always goes, when he is finally ALLOWED to come out...he doesn't. I think this is punishment for stopping him at 20 weeks and 26 weeks ;) I was booked back at the hospital on Sunday but they noted no changes from Friday.

I had another doctors appt yesterday and I am still 1 cm dilated {which I have been all weekend}. The top of the cervix is much more dilated though and his head is low. The OB is honestly amazed he is still holding on and even emailed a few doctors I have worked with over the pregnancy to let them know the "shocking" news. She is working the night shift tonight at the hospital, so told him to come then so she can deliver him :)

Anyways, I guess we will just see how long this little pumpkin holds on for. I honestly feel as if I will still be pregnant at Christmas but I know that he has to come in at least four weeks. So either way, its close!

How far along? 35 weeks 4 days
Total weight gain: 16 lbs
Maternity clothes? Nothing new considering I am told every other week he is on his way.
Stretch marks?  I think that one is developing on my tummy. Right now it looks like a little purple vein but i'm pretty sure it's the start of a stretch mark. Wah.
    Sleep: Good :)
Best moment this week: Getting my cerclage out!! First of all I have been dreading the procedure of removal and secondly, it was so painful by the end of it, I was worried it would rip through. That would have mean't no more babies...So I am glad it is gone now!
Miss anything? Not feeling uncomfortable when I eat. I get full soooo easily now! Having a baby of this size CONSTANTLY makes you feel as if you ate for a small village even when you have only touched a quarter of your plate. I guess there is not alot of room in there??
Food cravings: Not really
Anything making you queasy or sick? Onions and garlic
Gender: Little boy :)
Labour signs: Sadly, no.
Belly button in or out?  In!
Wedding rings on or off: On
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy BUT very ready to meet this little thing.
Looking forward to: Using the new stroller my parents got me with an actual baby...instead of pushing around the cats haha.

My new Peg Perego stroller. I just LOVE it....and so does Enzo. Thanks Mum and Dad!
